The Sonifex AVN-CU4 commentary box is a fully configurable commentary unit that utilizes analog and Dante® AoIP connection systems. The device provides four microphone or line inputs with a wide, adjustable gain range and four stereo headphone outputs with lockable jack sockets, suitable for use by one, two, three, or four commentators.

The device can handle virtually any commentary situation thanks to Dante connections and a dual redundant network. It has several AC / DC / PoE power options. Up to 48 rotary encoders can be used on inputs, outputs, or cross-points, enabling talkback, commentary, and audio mixing channels to be handled in a single device.

The device has been designed from the ground up to be configurable in different situations using configuration files that can be saved and recalled for quick setup. Additionally, buttons and rotary encoders can be locked if the device is operated by less technical commentators.

The rear panel features a wealth of 4-wire connections: 4 x analog line inputs on locking XLR sockets, 6 x analog line outputs on XLR connectors, and a stereo RJ45 AES3 input and output. These connections can act as a simultaneous analog backup to the Dante AoIP connections.

The illuminated “Sonifex” logo acts as a power indicator, and illuminated LEDs indicate the status of the network clock, AoIP Primary and AoIP Secondary link status, PoE Primary, PoE Secondary, and active AC power. The front panel features 4 microphone/line inputs with +48V phantom power indication and 4 headphone outputs on locking 6.35 mm jack sockets. The device has dual redundant network ports on RJ45 connectors (PoE+ when using 2 Neutrik EtherCON® connectors) and SFP. In addition to the dual PoE ports and 4-pin 12V XLR DC input, the device is powered by an AC mains input on an IEC socket with a universal power supply.
