What is the EVS replay system?

EVS is a legendary replay system that has become a virtually required standard in live production. The EVS XT3 ChannelMax system allows recording up to 12 video channels operating in 1080/50i or 1080/50p quality. EVS XT3 production servers enable the creation, editing, exchange, and broadcasting of video and audio content. According to the company, approximately 5,000 operators worldwide use their tools daily.

How does the EVS replay system work?

The EVS production server primarily records the video from the cameras. In our configuration, this is a maximum of 12 cameras. The system operator can then select shots, perform simple editing such as clip trimming, and finally play back the selected fragment in slow motion or normal speed. When creating playlists, the operator can replay the most interesting moments (highlights) or show a recorded fragment that was not shown to viewers in the main broadcast. Support for up to two output channels allows, for example, to show a reporter describing a sporting event while simultaneously playing back fragments of the match, all from recording devices. The EVS can also be a server exclusively for recording video from each camera.
