What is Starlink?
Starlink is a satellite internet service being developed by the American company SpaceX, which is owned by Elon Musk. The system will ultimately consist of approximately 12,000 satellites placed in what is known as low Earth orbit (LEO) at three altitudes: 340 km, 550 km, and 1,150 km above Earth. Thanks to its low orbit, Starlink offers latency (ping) comparable to that of an LTE modem—an average of 40 ms—making it a viable tool for live streaming and real-time broadcasting. OneStream offers Starlink for rent in Warsaw and throughout Poland.
How does Starlink work?
Satellite internet works by connecting the user to satellites via a satellite dish. The antenna automatically calibrates itself and selects the optimal satellite from the constellation. It is connected to a Wi-Fi router and a modem, which in turn provide internet access—via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable. The satellites transmit data to and from the user’s router, ensuring a stable connection. The entire system is up and running in 5–10 minutes, with no configuration required—it’s truly plug-and-play.
Starlink as a backup for LiveU — double the transmission reliability
The most common use of Starlink in OneStream broadcast productions is as a backup for bonding encoders (LiveU LU600, LU300). When LTE goes down at a given location—due to network congestion at a concert, lack of coverage in the mountains, or a carrier outage—Starlink takes over the transmission without interruption. You can also configure LiveU bonding with an additional Starlink link (LiveU supports this natively), increasing stability and bandwidth.

Starlink works wherever traditional internet (LTE, fiber-optic) is unavailable, unreliable, or overloaded:

Yes, our Starlink has an active Roam license that works throughout the European Union and in most European countries. The only requirements are an unobstructed view of the sky above the antenna (no obstacles such as tall trees, roofs, or bridges) and a 230V or 12V power supply. The antenna automatically locates satellites without the need for manual calibration.
Starlink is truly plug-and-play. All you have to do is: set up the antenna (under an open sky), connect the cable to the router, and plug the router into a power outlet. The antenna calibrates itself (5–10 minutes), and you’re connected to the internet. Setting up the router (Wi-Fi, password) takes 2 minutes using the mobile app. No technical expertise is required.
Yes—this is one of the most common uses of Starlink in our projects. The LiveU LU600 and LiveU LU300 encoders support link bonding—you can add Starlink as an additional uplink alongside LTE modems. In the event of an LTE outage, Starlink takes over the entire stream without interruption. Configuration is free with every package.
Starlink is designed to operate in all weather conditions—the antenna has a built-in de-icing heater and is rain-resistant (IP54). Heavy rain may reduce speeds by 10–20%, but the connection will not be lost. During extreme storms, we recommend folding the antenna to protect the equipment (it is susceptible to damage from hail and strong winds).
Yes—we have a 12V car adapter (for the cigarette lighter or direct connection to the battery), available as an optional extra for 100 zł per day. The entire setup consumes about 60–100W (router + antenna with heating in winter), so it works just fine with cars that have more powerful batteries. We recommend keeping the engine idling during extended use or using an additional power bank.
The minimum stay is 1 day (Package A – 700 zł net). We have a tiered pricing structure: 3 days for 1,500 PLN (effectively 500 PLN per day) and 7 days for 2,400 PLN (effectively ~343 PLN per day). For stays longer than a week, the rate is 200 PLN net per day for each additional day. The longer the project, the lower the daily rate. Contact us for a custom quote.
