Key Specifications of the LiveU LU300
Technical Specifications
What is the LiveU LU300?
The LiveU LU300 is a compact bonding encoder from the Israeli company LiveU—the smaller and lighter sibling of the flagship LU600. The device weighs just 955 g, allowing it to be mounted directly on a camera (V-mount), carried in a holster, or worn on a belt. The encoder enables live broadcasts in 1080/50p broadcast quality from anywhere—it uses four LTE modems with bonding technology that aggregates bandwidth and provides connection redundancy. OneStream offers the LU300 for rent with active SIM cards and an optional LU2000/LU4000 receiver server.
How does 4-modem LTE bonding work in the LU300?
Each of the 4 LTE modems in the LU300 connects independently to a cellular network (each can be on a different network—Plus, Play, Orange, T-Mobile). The video signal is divided into packets and sent in parallel by all modems. On the receiving end, the LiveU LU2000/LU4000 server reassembles the packets into a single, coherent stream. This offers two key benefits: bandwidth aggregation (4 modems = significantly more than one) and redundancy—if one operator’s signal weakens, the remaining 3 modems maintain the transmission. Dual SIM also allows you to have both a local and a roaming SIM card in a single slot.
LU300 vs LU600 vs Solo/Go — Which Encoder Should You Choose?
OneStream offers three models of LiveU bonding encoders to meet a variety of production needs and budgets:
- LiveU LU300 (this product) — compact, 4 LTE modems, HEVC HD, 955 g, V-mount — for news, feature stories, HD events, and live streaming.
- LiveU LU600 — flagship model, 8 LTE modems, 4K HDR, HEVC, Live & Store — for broadcasters and demanding 4K productions.
- LiveU Solo/Go — 4 modems, basic bonding, the most affordable option — for YouTube/Facebook streaming and simpler productions.
- For satellite connections outside LTE coverage— Starlink as a supplement to the LU300 (hybrid bonding).
Applications - Where Can the LU300 Be Used?
The LiveU LU300 is the industry standard for mobile HD productions that require a lightweight operator setup and a reliable connection:
- News reports and breaking news - camera operator + LU300 on a V-mount.
- Broadcast video links—connecting the studio with a reporter in the field (1-second latency).
- Live HD streaming of concerts, festivals, and outdoor events.
- Sports broadcasts from the stands, paddocks, and locations without infrastructure.
- Corporate events, conferences, and interviews from locations without fiber-optic connectivity.
- Vloggers and content creators who need reliable HD streaming on the go.

FAQ
The LU300 is a compact encoder for news and HD productions. It has 4 LTE modems (the LU600 has 8, the Solo/Go has 4), supports HEVC HD (the LU600 also supports 4K HDR), weighs only 955 g, and mounts to the camera via a V-mount. We recommend the LU600 for 4K broadcasts and demanding productions, and the Solo/Go for YouTube/Facebook streaming and simpler projects. The LU300 is the perfect middle ground—professional HD quality in a mobile format.
Bonding combines the bandwidth from 4 independent LTE modems. Each modem can have a SIM card from a different carrier (Plus, Play, Orange, T-Mobile)—this provides redundancy (if one carrier’s signal weakens, the other 3 modems maintain the transmission) and significantly higher bandwidth than a single modem. On the receiving end, the LiveU LU2000/LU4000 server reassembles the packets into a single, coherent stream. This allows for live HD broadcasting from any location in the field.
Yes—that’s a key feature of the LU300. The encoder weighs only 955 g and has a V-mount adapter, so you can attach it directly to the camera’s battery. You can also carry it in a holster on your belt or in a backpack. The D-Tap power supply draws power from the camera battery, so you don’t need an extra battery—one kit, one power source. That’s a huge difference compared to the LU600 (~3 kg in a backpack).
Yes—the LU300 supports Live & Store. During a live broadcast (where the bitrate dynamically adjusts to network conditions), the device simultaneously saves a local copy in the highest broadcast quality to a microSD card. Once the broadcast is over, you can upload the full version to the LiveU server. This is ideal for content to be aired later or if network conditions were poor during the live broadcast—you always have a backup at 100% quality.
The LiveU receiving server (LU2000 or LU4000) aggregates the bonded stream and outputs an SDI signal. You have two options: 1) Colocated —the server is located at OneStream, and the signal is sent to your streaming platform (YouTube, Facebook, Wowza). Ideal for online streaming. 2) On-site —we deliver the server to your event, and you connect the SDI signal directly to your video mixer. Ideal for TV broadcasts and productions requiring a local broadcast signal. The server is optional—it’s already included in Package B.
The minimum is 1 day of filming (Package A – 1,500 PLN net). For longer projects (3+ days), we offer discounts—please contact us for a custom quote. SIM cards (4) are included in the rental price with a data plan sufficient for typical HD streaming. In cases of very high data usage (multi-hour live streams, roaming while traveling), we may add the cost of premium data plans. Delivery in Warsaw is FREE; outside Warsaw, delivery is as specified in the contract.
