Streaming video

The final of the fourth edition of the INTER popularization competition, organized by the Foundation for Polish Science as part of the SKILLS project, took place in the building of the Institute of Industrial Design in Warsaw. Each of the 11 finalists had five minutes to present their interdisciplinary research project. Their presentations were assessed by the Competition Committee consisting of: prof. Maciej Żylicz, president of the FNP, who served as chairman of the Committee, dr Magdalena Kulma (winner of the INTER 2014 competition), dr Ilona Iłowiecka-Tańska, Natalia Osica, editor Dorota Romanowska and editor Krzysztof Michalski. At the same time, streaming video allowed interested people to watch the performances live on the internet. 

In the first stage of the INTER 2015 competition, 28 young scientists submitted applications for the implementation of an interdisciplinary research project. The scientific quality of the submitted projects was then assessed by a review panel, which selected 11 finalists. Before the final, the young researchers took part in training in the field of self-presentation and the art of public speaking, during which they refined their popularization skills. Streaming video also served to "popularize" science and significantly expanded the audience. It was amazing that the video material left on the website after the end of the video transmission was watched by several thousand people for the next 2 weeks.
The aim of the INTER competition is to develop the skills of young scientists in the field of science popularization. The competition is open to: doctoral students from Polish scientific units, doctors who are research employees (up to 6 years after obtaining a doctorate) and graduates of doctoral studies (up to 12 months from obtaining a doctorate).
