A charity all-star match at the stadium in Dębica, Poland. Full stadium production from our OB van. Long lenses, EVS replays, wireless reporter links over LiveU and a crew of twenty.
A charity match that had to look like a league fixture
Kanał Sportowy brought its All-Stars squad to the stadium in Dębica to play the local club's legends. Mateusz Borek managed the team. Every ticket went towards treatment for Krystian, a four-year-old boy. At those stakes the broadcast could not look like a phone held up in the stands.
On top of that came one continuous feed on YouTube. The warm-up, the match, a concert at half time and interviews after the final whistle. Three and a half hours without a break.
The stadium was open and the autumn light faded during the match. The stands were full. The pictures had to carry both the action on the pitch and everything happening around it.

How we did it
Eleven cameras and two points of view from above
Setting up
The van parked beside the stadium. Cameras went along the touchline, with long lenses on the main stand. From there you get the whole pitch and a player's face in close-up.
Shots from above
The drone covered wide shots and the stadium itself. A camera on a lift gave a high angle over the pitch. Neither of them can be had from ground level.
Sound and reporters
Ambient microphones went by the pitch and the commentators took their desk. Reporters worked with wireless kits and went to air through LiveU.
Replays
EVS XT3 ChannelMax with XFile. A replay reached the air seconds after the incident, and the whole match recorded in parallel with the live feed.
Light that fades
The match kicked off in daylight and ended after dark. The cameras had to be walked through that change so that the viewer never noticed it.
One continuous feed
Warm-up, match, half-time concert and post-match interviews. All of it in a single broadcast, with no breaks and no holding slides.

The full broadcast on the client's channel
The event exactly as viewers saw it. The recording lives on the Kanał Sportowy channel.

How many cameras does a football match broadcast need?
For this match we worked with eleven. The game itself needs fewer, but then the broadcast looks thin. Tell us what should be visible beyond the pitch and we will work out how many cameras make sense.
Can a drone be added to a stadium broadcast?
Yes. A drone gives wide shots and views of the whole venue that you cannot get from the ground. Flights have to be cleared with the organiser and the stadium operator, so we plan them alongside the running order.
How do live replays work?
The EVS server records every camera in parallel. The replay operator picks the moment and puts it to air seconds after the incident. The same machine hands over the full material after the match.
Do you produce charity matches?
Yes. The Kanał Sportowy all-star match was a fundraiser for a child's treatment. The scope is the same as for a commercial fixture, because picture quality decides how long viewers stay with the stream.
What about a match that starts in daylight and ends after dark?
That is normal in autumn. The cameras are walked through the change gradually, adjusting iris and white balance. The viewer should never spot the moment the floodlights took over.
Can a broadcast run for several hours without a break?
Yes. In Dębica it ran for three hours and thirty-nine minutes in one go: warm-up, match, half-time concert and post-match interviews. No holding slides and no dropped feed.
How does a reporter go to air from the pitch?
Through a LiveU kit, a transmitter carried on the reporter's back. The signal reaches the van without a cable, so the reporter can move around the venue and go live from anywhere.
