Four XLR channels over a single CAT cable

The sssnake Cat Snake 3FB and 3MB form a compact passive stage box for routing four analog audio signals between the stage, a conference table, the sound engineer’s console, or a recording device. Instead of four long XLR cables, you use a single shielded network cable, and you get a set of XLR connectors at both ends of the setup.

This kit works well at conferences, panel discussions, recording studios, corporate events, and smaller music productions. The modules are passive, so they do not require a power supply, startup, or configuration.

3FB and 3MB - input and output pages

The Cat Snake 3FB has four female XLR connectors, and the Cat Snake 3MB has four male XLR connectors. When you connect the modules using a shielded CAT cable, you get four independent point-to-point channels. The terms “transmitter” and “receiver” are sometimes used colloquially, but this set does not involve active digital transmission: the modules transmit analog signals via twisted-pair cables.

Cat Snake uses an Ethernet cable as a multi-pair analog cable, but does not transmit Ethernet data. The modules must be connected directly using a single shielded CAT cable. This signal must not be routed through a switch, router, fiber-optic converter, or active computer infrastructure.
